Little Boy’s Wallet

A few weeks ago my little boy asked me to make him a wallet. I (bad mommy) promptly forgot! Today he reminded me when he found his Lego Official Builder Licence (which the kids received as birthday party favors last weekend) and wanted a special place to put it.  I had a little time on my hands and decided to get right down to business.  I chose to use the Basic Boy’s Wallet tutorial from Noodlehead.  I liked the accordion … Continue reading

Easy 2-hour Sundress

Jenny sent me an e-mail on Thursday asking if I might, perchance, be able to whip-up a sundress for the completely ADORABLE little Anika. It seems that they are having family portraits done and her family chose black, grey & light blue as the colors.  Since the clothes were supposed to be predominantly black or grey, they were having some trouble finding a sundress. Now, how could I say no to that?  Having my own little … Continue reading

Farfalle Baby Quilt

Do you know what Farfalle is?  It’s the pasta that’s shaped like a bow. You know, this stuff: Did you also know that “farfalla” is Italian for butterfly? Neither did I… ANYWAY…this weekend, I made a flying farfalle quilt as a well-past-due gift for the baby of some friends.  (The baby is now 4 months old, so it’s not THAT far past due…) What a fun quilt to make!  I love how this turned out…well, … Continue reading

Another Zakka Swap

This time it’s magnets! I’m as excited for this one as I was for the last one…maybe more. I made a mosaic of fabric magnets I found on flickr that I love and/or things I think would work well as magnets (that I also love, of course). I’m already considering the possibility of sets of magnets to sell in my Etsy shop! Any suggestions? Special requests? 1. hexies, 2. hexie panda, 3. Little Mushroom Fridge Magnet, … Continue reading

Birdie Key Fob

Here we are, another swap! This one is for the RATZ (Rapid & Tiny Zakka) Swap. May was Key Fob month. Using the pattern found at BDDesigns Owls and More… I created this little key fob for my partner.  I sure hope she likes it! The pattern is not in English, but she did make a photo tutorial. Of course I have my own notes…I ended up tracing the pattern straight from my computer screen – it printed … Continue reading

Doll Quilt Swap 12 (DQS12)

I was so excited to join this swap.  What fun!  I got a secret partner who a got to internet stalk to figure out her likes and dislikes.  Then I got to make her a quilt, knowing all the while that someone was doing the same for me. My stalkee was Liz from oh sew liz.  From my stalking I discerned that she liked pink, circles, scrapiness, and that she had two sons.  Having a … Continue reading

Nubees Block Swap update

So I’m still swapping like a mad woman in 2012.  I finished up two new sets for my hive members just this past weekend: For Hive #1, March/April 2012 swap I made up a block based on the knee socks quilt block from The Modern Quilt Guild:  The tutorial for the original block can be found here: http://themodernquiltguild.com/2012/03/04/100-days-week-of-using-what-you-have-knee-socks-quilt-block/ .  I’m going to have to explore it further soon, I love it that much. For Hive #8, April … Continue reading

Are you envious?

I finished my Envy blocks for the February 2012 Nubees Swap! I really didn’t think I would get them done so quickly, but I started sewing last night and just couldn’t bring myself to stop until I was done.  I’m really loving the look of the Envy block. I had a little bit of trouble with the block initially – turns out the needle wasn’t centered in my sewing machine’s throat plate so I was … Continue reading
