Wolf Moon – complete!

Uploaded by alyson_olander Snow Moon, Cold Moon, Quiet Moon abide, Let protection and strength grow inside, Inanna, Sarasvati, Hera, and Sinn, Sew new beginnings deep within. —Dallas Jennifer Cobb In my research about the Wolf Moon, this rite struck me as just perfect to begin my year long full moon journal quilting adventure. The full moon on the night in question was shrouded in clouds, but the moon shown through, creating these amazing rings of … Continue reading

New clothes for me!

I’ve been working on this new blazer/jacket for a couple weeks now. It’s really cute, but it’s also sort of a pain in the butt. I haven’t posted about it yet because I’m still working on the flippin’ pintucks. Plus I think I’m out of interfacing. But it really is cute. Really. See? Cute. Mine is going to be in this greyish-periwinklish wool/cashmere blend, with vintage silver-backed glass buttons. A while back (like six months … Continue reading

Artful Dilemmas

I decided that I would make my full moon celebration quilts 12″ x 12″. I have nothing attached to that number; there is nothing significant about it, it’s just an easy one for me. I have a 12.5″ x 12.5″ ruler, and I trim the edges when the quilting is done so I’ll have nice straight edges and the quilt will be 12″ x 12″. Easy as that. There is a continuation of the journal … Continue reading

Wolf Moon (working title)

I decided that I would do a journal quilt set this year based on the full moons. The plan is to research each moon in turn and gaze/meditate on it as it happens, considering it’s meaning and how that fits into my life. It’ll be a personal journey, of sorts. Saturday was the Wolf Moon/Old Moon: Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name … Continue reading

A shrine to…

Love Shrine Originally uploaded by alyson_olander So last night, the fabulous K came over and brought all of her arty supplies with her, for the purpose of making wee little shrines. I made two & she left me with stuff to make more. The stamps are from junque‘s “Little Altars Everywhere” set. Oh hooray! Now I have MORE crafty craziness to make! Grocery Bags COMPLETE!

Grocery bag Originally uploaded by alyson_olander I finished the grocery bags today. Seven ugly-fabulous bags to collect our groceries in for as long as they should last! I actually have an 8th bag cut out and ready to sew, but I don’t have enough cotton webbing left for the straps. Of course, it would be most helpful if we remembered to BRING the new bags when we went on our grocery shopping outing this evening. … Continue reading

Grocery Bags

Grocery bag fabric Originally uploaded by alyson_olander I had an abbreviated sewing evening tonight because we had to keep the baby up so we could dose him with tylenol before bed (shots at the doc’s today). I didn’t finish anything, but I FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY started on our re-usable grocery bags. I cut them out ages ago, but I just never got around to sewing them. I thought I would treat you to a photo … Continue reading

Once more with feeling

Are you sick of this project yet? Ghosts of a Chance Artifact #3, The Con Artist’s Replica, has been posted to the Luce Foundation website. I enjoyed this one, particularly because I feel my idea may have contained a spark of genius. Here’s the Prompt: Ghosts of a Chance Assignment #3 submission – full Originally uploaded by alyson_olander Create a replica of something you desire but know you cannot have. An ordinary con man might … Continue reading
