Strawberry City Blooms Tote

This was SUCH a fun swap.  There were no requirements for what we should make, just that it be handmade, strawberry themed, and something that your partner would like (of course!) At first I didn’t know what to do.  There are just so many options for things to make!  And then I had a problem finding strawberry fabrics that I liked (without having to buy lots of yardage).  I had some of the Heather Ross … Continue reading

#makeaquiltmakeafriend

I had such fun making this little mini for my partner in the Schnitzel & Boo Mini Quilt Swap!  She said in her interview questions that she loved foxes, and I took that and ran with it. I call him “Foxy” My original plan was to use the cross stitch block pattern by Pile O’ Fabric and the fox pattern by Making Life Prettier, but I wanted Foxy to be smaller and I was just … Continue reading

Sunset Star

Here’s the finished Doll Quilt Swap 13 Mini!  I decided to call it Sunset Star.  I based my color choices on a sunset photo taken by one of my friends and used the 3 Layer Star paper piecing pattern by Mommy’s Nap Time.  My partner, who I can now reveal was Paula, asked for modern quilting and bright colors.  I found out through the message boards that her favorite color was purple, but that she’d … Continue reading

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday!

I received my amazing mini from Uberstitch last night! Isn’t it beautiful? She can’t possibly have known how well it would fit in with my collection of pink-ish flowery quilts that I have received in swaps over the years. Seriously! Amazing. I need to reorganize my wall of quilts but when I do I will definitely post a picture of them all together.

Another Zakka Swap

This time it’s magnets! I’m as excited for this one as I was for the last one…maybe more. I made a mosaic of fabric magnets I found on flickr that I love and/or things I think would work well as magnets (that I also love, of course). I’m already considering the possibility of sets of magnets to sell in my Etsy shop! Any suggestions? Special requests? 1. hexies, 2. hexie panda, 3. Little Mushroom Fridge Magnet, … Continue reading

Birdie Key Fob

Here we are, another swap! This one is for the RATZ (Rapid & Tiny Zakka) Swap. May was Key Fob month. Using the pattern found at BDDesigns Owls and More… I created this little key fob for my partner.  I sure hope she likes it! The pattern is not in English, but she did make a photo tutorial. Of course I have my own notes…I ended up tracing the pattern straight from my computer screen – it printed … Continue reading

Nubees Block Swap update

So I’m still swapping like a mad woman in 2012.  I finished up two new sets for my hive members just this past weekend: For Hive #1, March/April 2012 swap I made up a block based on the knee socks quilt block from The Modern Quilt Guild:  The tutorial for the original block can be found here: http://themodernquiltguild.com/2012/03/04/100-days-week-of-using-what-you-have-knee-socks-quilt-block/ .  I’m going to have to explore it further soon, I love it that much. For Hive #8, April … Continue reading

Are you envious?

I finished my Envy blocks for the February 2012 Nubees Swap! I really didn’t think I would get them done so quickly, but I started sewing last night and just couldn’t bring myself to stop until I was done.  I’m really loving the look of the Envy block. I had a little bit of trouble with the block initially – turns out the needle wasn’t centered in my sewing machine’s throat plate so I was … Continue reading

Swappin’ it up in 2012

I’ve decided that I really need to connect with more quilters, like-minded or otherwise.  I follow several blogs of friends, casual aquaintences, and people I don’t actually know  – you can find that list over here on the right —> But, I don’t really chat much with those folks.  And I’ve been missing having a sewing buddy.  To that end, I’ve opted to join some swaps!  Years ago I used to participate in swaps through several … Continue reading
